We decided the only fair thing to do, then, was to try this again, yet this time cook it in the toaster oven instead of the microwave. So what happened with the Devour Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese? Well, we liked it quite a bit, but we were a little disappointed by how the bread turned out in the microwave. But sometimes, we need to give a frozen food a second chance at a first impression.

The truth is, we reviewed it before (we also reviewed a quite similar item, the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, which has since become one of our favorite frozen foods). But as true lovers of ranch, we think this sandwich really hits the spot despite its one flaw - a flaw that might be mitigated with a non-microwave cook method. The Devour Turkey and Bacon with Ranch Grilled Cheese is a wonderful sandwich, though we wish the bread were a little less soggy. Definitely practice moderation if you plan on eating Devour frozen foods. It contains 550 calories (210 from fat) and 750 mg of sodium. And this sandwich is no diet-friendly food. This is great if you love great-tasting frozen meals, but it’s not so great if you’re on a diet. Now, Devour tends to focus far more on flavor than on calories when they design their meals. It’s a dreamy, creamy sauce that elevates this sandwich to a level that’s simply not possible without it. Now, we must point out that as midwesterners, the Freezer Meal Frenzy staff has a tendency to love ranch dressing more than anybody reasonably should. Then, there’s the oh-so-gooey combination of sharp cheddar and mozzarella.īut this sandwich’s true claim to fame is its creamy ranch sauce. The turkey is juicy and flavorful, and the Applewood smoked bacon gives it a smokey edge.

The stuff between the slices of bread, however, is where Devour really shows what it can do. Someday, we’d love to try cooking one of these sandwiches in a toaster oven, because we think that might fix this problem. Unfortunately, the microwave isn’t kind to it, and it ends up a bit soggy and extremely sticky to the touch. It’s hard to fault Devour here, because the bread is lovely. This does come with a crisping tray and a foldable box, which are supposed to keep the sogginess down, but crisping trays can only do so much for bread as thick as the stuff Devour uses in their sandwiches. So we expected that to be the case here too. Now, Devour’s frozen sandwiches tend to be just okay - they often have high-quality ingredients, but the fact that bread doesn’t heat well in microwaves often gets in the way. Today we’re checking out the Devour Turkey and Bacon with Ranch Grilled Cheese sandwich. So we’re always excited to try a new Devour product. While there are a few items that we just don’t care for in the Devour lineup, the brand also makes some of our all-time favorites.
